A Full Body Approach to Pain Relief and Dysfunction
Roots Physical Therapy was established with a vision to create an environment for authentic healing, restoration of function, ease of motion and promotion of well being. Sara's mission is to help people achieve and maintain their optimal level of health.

Sara Ulrich, a Physical Therapist for 21 years,  earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology/Biology from UW-LaCrosse, WI.  She earned her Master's in Physical Therapy at the College of St Catherine's in Minneapolis, MN.  She traveled to several states after graduating before being drawn to the amazing outdoor lifestyle that Oregon offers.

In 2010, Sara started her training in John F Barnes Myofascial Release (JFB MFR). Since then, she has taken over 350 hours of continuing education in MFR and has reached the Expert Level of Myofascial Release.   This includes a 40 hour skill enhancement at the Sedona, Arizona, Therapy on the Rocks clinic working side by side with John Barnes and his handpicked talented staff.
Sara has also had the honor of working as a relief therapist at Therapy on the Rocks.
In 2013, Sara began taking classes from the URSA Institute and adding this knowledge of therapy to her existing MFR work.  URSA looks at the embriology of the fetus in utero and uses this information to treat the body to restore optimal functioning of all systems.

Sara has had Women's Health Pelvic Floor training from John F Barnes, APTA Level 1, and Herman and Wallace PF1.   I am comfortable treating urinary dysfunction (stress and urge incontinence), pelvis dysfunction and prolapse (cystocele, rectocele, urethrocele) and pelvic pain (dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, vaginismus, endometriosis, vulvar pain, pudendal neuralgia).

I am passionate about this work and feel that so many women are not getting the help they need.

Sara has also taken Visceral Manipulation classes through the Barral Institute.

This education has changed the way she practices Physical Therapy by focusing on finding the root cause of her patients' problems, rather than treating only their symptoms.  This has resulted in permanent structural changes rather than temporary results.
Sara volunteered as a MFR PT for two weeks in Haiti in May of 2013 bringing this amazing therapy to the wonderful people there.  She returned again in April of 2014 for 1 week and she hopes to return again soon.
In her spare time, Sara enjoys downhill skiing, backpacking, yoga, traveling and spending time with her 10 year old daughter.
